The team has strong expertise in the mitigation side of climate change, specifically in the areas of clean and renewable energy. The firm works on projects along the entire value chain of the clean and renewable energy sector i.e., from the preparation of policy roadmap and business strategies to technical, engineering and design, transaction advisory, implementation support and monitoring and evaluation of programs/projects. The team has worked with various multilateral, bilateral and multilateral agencies like World Bank, UNDP, IFC, GIZ, BHC, DFID, SDC and USAID and Governmental Ministries and agencies like MNRE, IREDA, Indian Railways, Indian Oil and Public and Private Power Distribution Companies.

The team has also worked with private sector organizations including independent power producers in India. Specific services in this domain include:

1.Project development and management support and advice in the renewable energy space specifically on the solar rooftop and ground-mounted projects for both private and public sector organizations and energy access, including village electrification, solar pumping, improved cookstoves and renewable energy-based income-generating activities. This includes:

  • Design and engineering projects including undertaking technical assessments/ resource assessments
  • Financial modelling, LCOE/tariff calculations, financial attractiveness of investments
  • Development of appropriate Business Models
  • Providing Transaction Advisory services including tender preparation, bid evaluation, contracting
  • Policy and regulatory assessment
  • Project management

2. Developing Energy Strategy of partner organizations, predominantly in the private sector space. Specific services include:

  • Market assessments
  • Business analysis, including energy cost analysis and providing business advisory support
  • Advising partners on appropriate business models
  • Policy and regulatory assessments

3. New and upcoming technologies - over the past few years, the En-genuity team has worked on new and upcoming technologies like energy storage, renewable hybrid projects and electric vehicles and intends to support partners in:

  • Identifying business opportunities
  • Undertaking market assessments
  • Analyzing existing policy and regulatory frameworks
  • Policy advocacy
  • Recommending appropriate business models
  • Financial assessment and supporting investment decisions
